Why young women should avoid bath tub use

60% of all women will have symptoms of Urinary Track Infections (UTI) in there life time. Specially young sexually active women should be alert about this , because inadequate treatments can lead to chronic conditions and can even damage kidney permanently.

What is UTI

                    UTI is common condition where urinary track get infected from microbes. Infection can be anywhere in the urinary track (Kidney, Ureter, bladder, Urethra). Women are at a high risk of getting UTI due to their anatomical location of urethra. women have a shorter urethra .Inadequate treatments and wrong lifestyle practices can lead to recurrent UTI. which eventually lead to dangerous conditions.

Young sexually active women should avoid fallowing practices .

  • Avoid holding urine for a long period. because urine is a good medium for bacterial growth. 
  • Should stay well hydrated. 
  • Avoid bubble baths. because certain soaps can alter the PH value of urethra and lead to infections . it is very important to consider the PH value of the soap you use daily. Try to use a PH balances soap.
  • Avoid soaking long period in bath tubs. Because the bacteria in bowels can re enter the urethra coursing infections. Bath tubs can contaminate urethral area.
  • Women who use diaphragms and spermicide creams are at a high risk of getting UTI as they alter the normal flora. 
Women with structural abnormalities and pregnant women should stay alert about this.
Pregnant women will have altered blood hormonal levels which can be a reason for UTI. And also due to the weight of the uterus the bladder get stressed and can block urine drainage which provide chance for bacteria to grow.

How to prevent
   
  •   Urinate after having sexual intercouse.
  •   Drink cranberry juice frequently
  • Stay hydrated
